Randy KNOWS addiction. He is a 30 year veteran in the substance abuse field with extensive experience as a treatment center counselor and Director of Health & Alcohol Education at highly accredited universities. Hitting the stage internationally, Randy is a welcomed speaker that exudes raw energy fueled magnetic charisma and the relatability of a best friend.
Randy's story hits a raw nerve with students and professionals alike. It was as a college junior at San Diego State when his party life collided into his personal life: he friends with denial and better friends with disaster. Spiraling out of control, he was expelled for the second time, exchanging family and friends for alcohol and other drugs. On May 16, 1984, Randy decided to end this chaotic cycle and call it quits on life. His world shifted upon seeing his reflection in the bathroom mirror and "making eye contact with the broken soul staring back" at him. He realized that all these years he was told to "just say no" but; no one taught him what to do when he realized he had a problem. Randy knew he couldn't do it alone, so he asked for help and it saved his life. From that point on, Haveson decided to help others walk down the path of life armed with courage over fear.
Randy Haveson, M.A. has been working in the counseling field since 1986. Since 1991 Randy has worked in and around higher education. He became the coordinator of health education programs on three university campuses around the country. His programs have received national recognition for their innovation and effectiveness in reaching college students.
In 1999 Randy became a full time professional speaker & consultant. He has spoken to and consulted with hundreds of thousands of students and professionals on campuses, at conventions, and in business settings around North America. He has been featured on CNN Headline News, Fox News Network, The Ricki Lake show, and on numerous radio stations across the country.
In 2005 Randy took a break from speaking to open a recovery residence for college students. He sold that business in 2014 and is now dedicating his life to his true passion, helping people find their path in life and learn the skills necessary to be positive, productive, and fulfilled members of society
